I have a whole backlog of dresses and lingerie to take photos of for review, but I thought we’d start the week off with some actual professional dress photos! I was lucky enough to get to model for the big blog reveal of Trashy Diva’s latest collection, along with a whole host of other beautiful ladies. Their newest collection is inspired by classic figures in the art of Chinese Opera and the print comes in lots of the most popular Trashy Diva dress styles.
I sadly didn’t have time to stick around and try everything, but I did want to write a quick capsule review of the dress I tried for the shoot. This cut is a classic Trashy Diva style and has come out in prints and embroidered versions – I’m a particular fan of the earlier Dragon Lillian and Peacock Lillian versions.
This cut really works for me for two reasons: it’s super curve friendly and wearable for both everyday and dress up occasions. It looks great with a sweater and flats or with heels and lots of jewelry. This runs the same as the earlier Day Dress variations and I’m wearing my normal Trashy Diva size 14 here. There are two more versions of this currently available at Trashy Diva in different prints if you don’t love this one, but be aware the that Red Waterlilies version runs a size smaller than the rest of them.
The Chinese Opera print is great because it has so many colors in it, which means you can match it with virtually anything. I wish I’d known that in advance, as I would have brought more exciting shoes to the shoot! It would go great with medium blue tones, dark reds or even the right shade of teal.
If you like Asian inspired prints but don’t love the Chinese Opera print, there’s also this Green Kimono print version (taken from an actual vintage kimono). It runs true to size and I really loved it when I tried it on. I eventually passed because it was a little busy on me, but I’ve seen it looking fabulous on tons of other people. If you have a dramatic bust/waist difference and haven’t tried this dress shape yet, it’s absolutely worth trying.
What do you think of the Day Dress by Trashy Diva? Have you tried one?
